PROGRAM: COUNTY ORGANIZINGFOR OVER 20 YEARS, HLC HAS PLAYED A CRITICAL EDUCATION AND COORDINATION ROLE ON HOUSING ISSUES ACROSS THE 21 JURISDICTIONS IN SAN MATEO COUNTY. WE WORK WITH A BROAD COALITION OF ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS BOTH AS A CONVENER AND AS A PARTICIPANT. WE BUILD BRIDGES TO EFFORTS THAT HAVE COMMON INTERESTS WITH OUR MISSION, BUILD CONSENSUS ON STRATEGY AND POLICY SOLUTIONS, SHARE BEST PRACTICES, AND GIVE CREDIT TO THE CRITICAL EFFORTS OF OUR PARTNERS AND MEMBERS.
PROGRAM: POLICY CHANGE FOR AFFORDABLE HOMESWE HOLD TARGETED EVENTS AROUND SPECIFIC POLICY SOLUTIONS OR UPCOMING PLANNING EFFORTS. WE OFFER PUBLIC ENDORSEMENT OF HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS THAT ARE SOUGHT AFTER BY DEVELOPERS WHO RECOGNIZE THE VALUE OF OUR BRAND WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS. IN 2021, WE WERE ABLE TO SECURE $50M IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING MONEY FROM THE COUNTY. FROM JULY 2020 - JUNE 2021, HLC ENDORSED 833 NEW AFFORDABLE HOMES. OF THOSE, 61 HAVE ALREADY BEEN APPROVED. CURRENTLY, 1603 ENDORSED LOW AND VERY LOW INCOME HOMES ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
