THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES THE INITIAL "SEED" MONEY TO THE AUGUST L HORMAY WILDLANDS INSITUTUE WHICH IN TURN PROVIDES "BOOTS-ON-THE-GROUND" SUPERVISION AND OVERSIGHT FOR CHOOSING PROJECTS AND PROVIDING THE INITIAL FUNDING FOR WHICH MATCHING FUNDS ARE MORE EASILY OBTAINED TO CARRY OUT THE OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION. IN 2021 THE OGANIZATION PROVIDED FUNDS AND RESEARCH MATERIALS TO FUND A NEW SUBSTANTIAL PROJECT BETWEEN THE WILDLANDS INSTITUTE AND MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY ANIMAL AND RANGE SCIENCES DEPARTMENT. ONE OF THE CORNERSTONES OF REST- ROTATION GRAZING AS ADVOCATED BY AUGUST L. HORMAY WHO ESTABLISHED THE RANGE LAND MANAGEMENT SOCIETY WAS PROPER FENCING PRACTICES THAT COULD IMPROVE LIVESTOCK GRAZING AND MAY ALSO HAVE IMPACTS ON WILDLIFE. THIS IS IMPORTANT ON PUBLIC LANDS WHERE MULTIPLE USE IS A VERY IMPORTANT OBJECTIVE. THE 2021 CONTRIBUTION HELPED WITH COSTS FOR A REST- ROTATION STUDY IN THE CENTENNIAL VALLEY OF MONTANA.
