HEART TO HEARTS PRIMARY PROGRAM ACTIVITIES DURING FISCAL YEAR 2022 WERE ASSOCIATED WITH OUR (1) GOING GLOBAL INITIATIVE (2015 - PRESENT) AND (2) INTO THE HEARTLAND CAMPAIGN (2002-2019). GOING GLOBAL EXPANDS HEART TO HEART WORK TO DEVELOP SELF-SUSTAINING REGIONAL CARDIAC CENTERS IN AREAS OF NEED WORLDWIDE, WITH A FOCUS ON LATIN AMERICA. OUR INTO THE HEARTLAND CAMPAIGN SUCCESSFULLY DEVELOPED A NETWORK OF SIX SELF-SUSTAINING REGIONAL CHILDRENS HEART CENTERS IN STRATEGIC LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY - ENSURING THAT A CHILD BORN WITH A HEART DEFECT ANYWHERE IN RUSSIA HAS ACCESS TO LIFE-SAVING CARDIAC PROCEDURES. THUS FAR NEARLY 35,000 CHILDREN'S LIVES HAVE BEEN SAVED AT HEART TO HEART GRADUATED PARTNER SITES.

NATIONAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA | NOVEMBER 2021 A TEAM OF SEVEN MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS, STAFF, AND INTERPRETERS (INCLUDING A PEDIATRIC CARDIAC SURGEON, PEDIATRIC CARDIAC ANESTHESIOLOGIST, AND PEDIATRIC CARDIOLOGIST) CONDUCTED HEART TO HEARTS MEDICAL-EDUCATIONAL MISSION TO THE NATIONAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL. THE TEAM CONSULTED ON 10 PATIENT CASES AND PRESENTED LECTURES TO THE LOCAL CARDIAC SPECIALISTS. NATIONAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA | MARCH 2022 A HEART TO HEART TEAM OF 14 MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS, INTERPRETERS, AND STAFF PARTICIPATED ON OUR FIRST EVER SURGICAL-EDUCATIONAL MISSION TO THE NATIONAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL. THE FOCUS OF THE TRAINING MISSION WAS TO PROVIDE ADVANCED EDUCATION ON CONGENITAL HEART VALVE DISEASE TO THE LOCAL TEAM OF CARDIAC SPECIALISTS. OUR HANDS-ON TRAINING INCLUDED FOUR JOINTLY PERFORMED OPEN HEART SURGERIES A TOTAL OF SEVEN VALVE REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS. HEART TO HEARTS TEAM OF CARDIAC SPECIALISTS WORKED SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH OUR COSTA RICAN COLLEAGUES TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING IN THE AREAS OF CARDIOLOGY, SURGERY, ANESTHESIA, PERFUSION, AND POST-OPERATIVE INTENSIVE CARE. HEART TO HEART SPECIALISTS EXAMINED AND DIAGNOSED 41 PATIENTS, TREATED 4 PATIENTS FOR CONGENITAL HEART VALVE DISEASE, AND PROVIDED CARE TO 10 ICU PATIENTS DURING THIS MISSION.NATIONAL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA | YEAR ROUND HEART TO HEART STAFF CONTINUOUSLY COLLECTED AND ANALYZED PER PATIENT SURGICAL OUTCOMES DATA FROM NCH THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THESE DATA HAVE BEEN AND WILL BE USED TO GUIDE THE EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATION, TRACK IMPROVEMENTS IN PATIENT OUTCOMES, AND DETERMINE EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES FOR FUTURE CARDIAC TRAINING MISSIONS AND OTHER PROGRAM ACTIVITIES. HEART TO HEART SPONSORED THE PATIENT AND HIS MOTHER, SO THAT THEY COULD TRAVEL TO THE UNITED STATES FOR HIS OPEN HEART SURGERY AT THE MAYO CLINIC. ADDITIONALLY, DR.
