HOUSE RABBIT SOCIETY'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE DOMESTIC RABBIT LIVES BY ELEVATING THEIR LIVING STANDARDS, QUALITY OF CARE, AND LEGAL STATUS AS INDOOR ANIMAL COMPANIONS THROUGH EDUCATION, RESCUE, AND AWARENESS.

ADOPTION PROGRAM, INCLUDING RABBIT CARE EXPENSES & VETERINARY CARE: HRS RESCUED 124 RABBITS, AND NEW ADOPTIVE HOMES FOR 107 RABBITS WERE FOUND. WE ASSISTED 22 MUNICIPAL SHELTERS AND HUMANE SOCIETIES. MEDICAL CARE EXAMS AND SPAY/NEUTERS WERE GIVEN FOR 190 RABBITS.
EDUCATION PROGRAM: EDUCATION PROGRAMS INCLUDED EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS AND FREE RABBIT EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS, MAILED AND HANDED OUT IN VET OFFICES, AT EVENTS, AND AT THE RICHMOND, CA HEADQUARTERS. TWO ISSUES OF HOUSE RABBIT JOURNALS WERE PRODUCED AND DISTRIBUTED TO MEMBERS. THE RABBIT.ORG WEBSITE WAS MAINTAINED WITH EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND RESOURCES. 41 E-NEWSLETTERS WERE PRODUCED AND EMAILED TO SUPPORTERS. RABBIT HEALTH AND CARE CONSULTATIONS WERE PROVIDED THROUGH PHONE CALLS, EMAILS AND SOCIAL MEDIA. PRIOR TO COVID, HRS PARTICIPATED IN, PRESENTED AT OR TABLED AT TWO CONFERENCES: NAVC AND NORTH ATLANTIC BUNFEST. WE RAN AN EASTER CAMPAIGN ABOUT NOT BUYING AN EASTER RABBIT. LICENSED HRS EDUCATORS PROVIDED LOCAL SUPPORT AND EDUCATION IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
EMERGENCY RESCUE AND CHAPTER GRANTS: FIVE GRANTS WERE MADE TO FIVE OTHER RABBIT RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS TO PROVIDE VET CARE, BENEFITTING OVER 288 RABBITS. ADDITIONALLY, ONE GRANT WAS MADE TO AN HRS CHAPTER TO HELP RENT AN OFF-SITE QUARANTINE SPACE AND BUY AN ELECTROSTATIC DISINFECTANT SPRAYER, REMEDIATING THE EFFECTS OF AN RDHV OUTBREAK.
