4A) THE PRIMARY GOAL OF BUTTERCUP FARMS AND BUTTERCUP FARMS GARDEN IS TO ENABLE PEOPLE TO BE INDEPENDENT, HAVE CONFIDENCE AND BE CONTRIBUTORY MEMBERS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES. CURRENTLY WE ARE WORKING WITH SEVERAL SPECIAL NEEDS PEOPLE BY PROVIDING: 1) PROVIDING A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM TO LIVE, LEARN AND GROW, 2) PROVIDING WORK OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN AND PRACTICE SKILLS THUS GAINING CONFIDENCE, 3) OPPORTUNITIES TO ASSIST OTHER SPECIAL NEEDS PEOPLE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES BY ASSISTING WITH MEALS AND CHORES AROUND THEIR HOME AND PROPERTY.
4B) DURING THE PANDEMIC, BUTTERCUP FARMS HAS HELPED SEVERAL HOMELESS CAMPS BY: SETTING UP FEEDING PROGRAMS BY WORKING WITH LOCAL RESTURANTS TO HELP HOMELESS PEOPLE, PROVIDING FRESH VEGETABLES AND FRUITS FROM BUTTERCUP FARMS GARDEN AND FRESH BAKED GOODS UTILIZING THESE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS, ASSISTING ONE HOMELESS CAMP ESTABLISH THEIR OWN VEGETABLE GARDEN. WE HAVE PROVIDED HANDMADE CLOTH FACEMASKS, PROVIDED NEW BLANKETS, SOCKS AND PERSONAL ITEMS THAT HAS GIVEN THEM A SENSE OF VALUE, THAT THEY ARE SSEEN.
4C) BUTTERCUP FARMS IS ALSO WORKING ON A PROJECT IN GUATEMALA TO PROVIDE A PLACE FOR A COMMUNITY CENTER, SCHOOL FACILITY, AND MEDICAL CLINIC. THIS INVOLVES CLOSE COORDINATION WITH THEIR TOWN COUNCIL AS WELL AS ARRANGING FOR MEDICAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONALS IN THE UNITED STATES TO PROVIDE SERVICES FOR THE MEDICAL CLINIC AND SCHOOL. ONE OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS VISITED GUATEMALA IN OCTOBER OF 2020 TO ESTABLISH A LOCAL TEAM TO HELP THE PROJECT MOVE FORWARD.
ELDER CARE: ONE OF THE THEMES IN BUTTERCUP'S CARE OF PEOPLE IS MIXING ALL AGES TOGETHER SO THAT THEY DISCOVER THE JOY OF CARING FOR EACH OTHER. ELDERLY PEOPLE FIT INTO THIS SCHEME VERY WELL. THEY FEEL NEEDED AND INCLUDED AND BECOME ACTIVE PARTS OF THE COMUNITY.
