THE SAN FRANCISCO CONSERVATION CORPS (SFCC) OFFERS YOUNG PEOPLE OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP THEMSELVES BY DEVELOPING THEIR ACADEMIC ABILITIES AND MARKETABLE JOB SKILLS WHILE ADDRESSING COMMUNITY NEEDS THROUGH SERVICE WORK.

THE HORTICULTURE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES JOB READINESS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS TRAINING TO YOUNG ADULTS, WITH A FOCUS ON JOB SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND LEARNING AGRICULTURAL SKILLS THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN FARMING AND LAND MANAGEMENT.


THE RECYCLING PROGRAM PROVIDES JOB READINESS SKILLS TRAINING TO YOUNG ADULTS. TRAINING IS PROVIDED ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO CORPS MEMBERS WHO DEVELOP SKILLS AND ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AS THEY UNDERTAKE VARIOUS PROJECTS TO BENEFIT THE ENVIRONMENT. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COLLECTING RECYCLABLE MATERIALS FROM LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT SAN FRANCISCO FOR SORTING PREPARATION FOR BUY-BACK AT OUR RECYCLING OPERATIONS CENTER.


THE SAN FRANCISCO CONSERVATION CORPS, IN COLLABORATION WITH THE JOHN MUIR CHARTER SCHOOL, OFFERS YOUNG ADULTS IN THE CORPS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE ENROLLED IN ONE OF 3 POSSIBLE CAREER PATHWAYS. THESE SITE-SPECIFIC CAREER PATHWAYS ARE BASED NOT ONLY UPON TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE CORPSMEMBERS MAY RECEIVE FROM THE PROGRAM, BUT ALSO HELPING CORPSMEMBERS TO NETWORK WITH POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS IN THEIR PROSPECTIVE CAREER FIELD. THE CAREER PATHWAYS ARE HOSTED AT SFCC/JOHN MUIR CHARTER SCHOOL. IN ADDITION, THROUGH SFCCS RECONNECTING ALL THROUGH MULTIPLE PATHWAYS (RAMP) PROGRAM, CORPSMEMBERS ARE PROVIDED WITH ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT, TEAM BUILDING, LIFE SKILLS, CAREER EXPLORATION, SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, CASE MANAGEMENT AND PAID JOB TRAINING.
