THE FOUNDATION MAKES CONTRIBUTIONS TO SELECTED PROJECTS CONDUCTED BY RESEARCH FELLOWS AND MEDICAL STUDENTS TO SUPPORT THEIR INTEREST IN FIELD RESEARCH IN OPHTHALMOLOGY AND LEARNING IN DATA ANALYSIS. THE CONTRIBUTIONS PROVIDE "SEED" FUNDING FOR NEW PROJECTS AND ENCOURAGE NEW RESEARCHERS. THE AMOUNT OF THESE AWARDS IS RESTRICTED TO MAXIMUM OF 3500 PER RECIPIENT, ONCE EVERY 2 YEARS. CANDIDATES ARE SUGGESTED BY FACULTY AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS OF OPHTHALMOLOGY ONCE YEAR. CANDIDATES' STATEMENTS ARE SUBMITTED TO THE REVIEW COMMITTEE AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE FOUNDATION AND ARE AWARDED BASED ON CONSISTENCY WITH THE FOUNDATION'S GOALS OF EXPANDING RESEARCH IN OPHTHALMOLOGY.
