THE MISSION OF THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY IS TO ASSIST OUR MEMBER DENTISTS WITH THEIR PRACTICE NEEDS AND TO IMPROVE THE ORAL HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY.

DENTAL CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM: PROVISION OF CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR NEARLY 1,800 DENTIST MEMBERS AND THEIR STAFF MEMBERS IS AN IMPORTANT OBJECTIVE OF THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY. THESE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDE LICENSE-RENEWAL-REQUIRED PROGRAMS IN CPR, OSHA REGULATIONS, DENTAL PRACTICE ACT, INFECTION CONTROL, AND HOSTILE WORKPLACE. ALSO, PRACTICE MANAGEMENT CLASSES UPDATE MEMBERS ON HR LAWS AND PRACTICE MANAGEMENT ISSUES. MONTHLY CLINICAL TOPIC LECTURES AND OCCASIONAL ALL-DAY SYMPOSIA PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT STATE-OF-THE-ART PRACTICES. HARD EXPENSES FOR THIS ACTIVITY (SPEAKER FEES, VENUES, ETC.) ARE 12.4% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION EXPENSES AND 19.15% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION INCOME.
EDUCATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS, MEETING, AND MEMBERSHIP SERVICES: MEMBER COMMUNICATIONS INCLUDES ALL PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MODES OF SHARING INFORMATION WITH DENTISTS MEMBERS INCLUDING INFORMATION ABOUT COVID-19 MANDATES, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND INFECTION PRECAUTIONS; ADVOCACY ISSUES IMPORTANT TO DENTAL PRACTICES; IMPORTANT HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT INFORMATION; AND OTHER INFORMATION TO ASSIST DENTISTS IN CREATING AND ESTABLISHING SUCCESSFUL PRACTICES. MODES INCLUDE A QUARTERLY PRINTED MAGAZINE, ROBUST WEBSITE, E-MAIL MESSAGES, NEWSLETTERS, AND SOCIAL MEDIA. THESE COMMUNICATIONS ARE DIRECTED TO NEARLY 1,800 MEMBER DENTISTS. HARD COSTS, WHICH INCLUDE PRINTING, MAILING, AND POSTAGE; WEBSITE MAINTENANCE AND DESIGN; AND EXPENSES FOR E-MAIL COMMUNICATION ARE 4.7% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION EXPENSES. ADVERTISING INCOME IS 3.6% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION INCOME.
MEMBER NETWORKING AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: AN IMPORTANT FUNCTION OF A PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION IS PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO NETWORK WITH EACH OTHER IN COMMITTEES AND SOCIAL EVENTS. THESE ARE OPEN TO ALL NEARLY 1,800 MEMBERS, MOST AT NO COST ABOVE THEIR DUES. EXPENSES ARE APPROXIMATELY 5.5% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION EXPENSES. INCOME IS 1.3% OF TOTAL ASSOCIATION INCOME.
