TO ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERING OF ANIMALS, INCREASE PUBLIC SENSITIVITY TO ANIMAL ISSUES AND ELEVATE THE STATUS OF ANIMALS IN OUR SOCIETY THROUGH INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS IN INTERVENTION, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.

INTERVENTION PROGRAM DELIVERS LIFE-SAVING VETERINARY ASSISTANCE AND PROMOTES SPAYING AND NEUTERING TO ENSURE THAT EVERY KITTEN, PUPPY OR BUNNY BORN MAY FIND A LOVING HOME. THE P.E.T. HELP PROGRAM ASSISTED LOW INCOME PEOPLE IN MANAGING THEIR VETERINARY COSTS, THUS KEEPING OWNERS AND PETS TOGETHER AND PETS FROM BEING SURRENDERED TO ANIMAL SHELTERS. THE ANIMAL RESCUE FUND FUNDED MEDICAL REHABILITATION OF SICK AND INJURED HOMELESS ANIMALS.


THE EDUCATION PROGRAM IN THE CLASSROOM AND IN THE COMMUNITY FURNISHES AN ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESSFUL ADVOCACY AND INTERVENTION ON BEHALF OF THE WELL-BEING OF ANIMALS. CLASSROOM TEACHING PRESENTATIONS WERE MADE TO GROUPS AND SCHOOLS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO MID-PENINSULA AREA. PRESENTATIONS ALSO WERE MADE IN COOPERATION WITH THE PALO ALTO CITY'S ANIMAL SERVICES CENTER. THE WEB-BASED HUMAN EDUCATION CURRICULUM, MOW WOW ANIMALS, WAS COMPLETED FOR GRADES K-2 TO HELP TEACHERS FULFILL THE CALIFORNIA MANDATE TO TEACH HUMANE EDUCATION TO ALL CALIFORNIA SCHOOL CHILDREN. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS RESOURCES FOR PET AND FARM ANIMALS WERE PROVIDED TO THE PUBLIC AND DISSEMINATED THROUGH GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE PREPAREDNESS NETWORKS IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH.


BARRON PARK DONKEY PROJECT: IN 2022, PALO ALTO HUMANE SOCIETY AGREED TO TAKE OVER THE CARE AND BOARDING COSTS FOR SEVERAL DONKEYS (AVERAGING 5-6 IN NUMBER) AT BARRON PARK IN PALO ALTO. THE PARK HAS BEEN HOME OF SEVERAL DONKEYS SINCE 1934 AND HAS A STRONG COMMUNITY FOLLOWING IN THE PALO ALTO AREA.
