PROVIDE DISASTER RELIEF TO INDIVIDUALS AND SMALL BUSINESSES, AS WELL AS COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT. ALSO, PROVIDE GRANTS TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING SUPPORT THAT ALIGNS WITH OUR CHARTER.

THE MAUI PONO FOUNDATION WAS CREATED TO HELP THE PEOPLE OF OUR COMMUNITY, BY THE PEOPLE OF OUR COMMUNITY.WE ARE COMMITTED TO ACCOUNTABILITY AND MAKING SURE YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED FOR WHAT THEY WERE INTENDED FOR, HELPING THE PEOPLE OF MAUI RECOVER AND REBUILD. THE MISSION OF THE MAUI PONO FOUNDATION IS TO HELP THE MAUI COMMUNITY RECOVER AND REBUILD FROM THE DEVASTATING AUGUST 2023 FIRES. SPECIFICALLY, OUR EFFORTS ARE FOCUSED ON IMMEDIATE RELIEF FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF HOME AND/OR BUSINESS, HELPING SMALL BUSINESSES REESTABLISH THEMSELVES AND SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE REBUILDING TO PREVENT FUTURE FIRE DISASTERS ON MAUI. ADDITIONALLY, WE LOOK TO SUPPORT THE REBUILDING OF HOMES LOST TO THE FIRES FOR FAMILIES THAT DON'T HAVE OR CANNOT AFFORD THE RESOURCES TO BEGIN AND COMPLETE THE REBUILDING PROCESS.THE MAUI PONO FOUNDATION BOARD MEMBERS ARE ALL MEMBERS OF THE MAUI COMMUNITY AND HAVE DEEP TIES AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE IMPACT THESE FIRES HAVE HAD ON OUR COMMUNITY. BY COMBINING OUR RESOURCES, WE HOPE TO BRING AWARENESS AND SUPPORT TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES NEEDING HELP THE MOST. AS WE MOVE FORWARD, WE CONTINUE TO LEARN ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY. WITH THE CONTINUED GROWTH OF OUR FOUNDATION, WE STRIVE TO EXPAND OUR MISSION TO HELP PROVIDE LONG TERM SUPPORT FOR SERVICES SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH, BUSINESS COACHING/MENTORING, EXPANDED FIRE PREVENTION, REFORESTATION AND MORE.WE HAVE ISSUED OVER $1,042,500 IN INDIVIDUAL CASH GRANTS TO PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY AFFECTED BY THE MAUI FIRES. WE WORKED WITH OUR FRIENDS AT FILLTHENEEDS.ORG AND PROVIDED A $5,000 GRANT THAT HELPED BRING 117 UKULELE STARTER KITS TO THE MAUI MUSIC COMMUNITY. WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH THE POSITIVELY KAI FOUNDATION BY DONATING $25,000 TO SUPPORT THE RAISING LAHAINA EVENT ON 10/21/23. WE HAVE WORKED WITH SLIMS POWER TOOLS IN KAHULUI TO PURCHASE AND DISTRIBUTE $20,000 OF TOOLS TO CONTRACTORS THAT LOST THEIR TOOLS IN THE FIRES. WE HAVE DONATED $114,000 TO ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING RELIEF AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES TO OUR COMMUNITY. WE HAVE AWARDED $296,799 IN SMALL BUSINESS GRANTS TO SUPPORT BUSINESSES REOPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE HAVE DONATED $20,700 TO THE MLAM 'INA PROJECT TO PLANT TREES THAT WILL HELP CREATE A FIREBREAK AT LAHAINA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL.
