WRK CONTINUED TO PROTECT WATER QUALITY HABITAT THROUGH ITS PROJECTS PROGRAMS. OF NOTE, MULTIPLE CLEANUP EVENTS HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THE ENGAGEMENT OF HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS FROM THROUGHOUT THE WILLAMETTE VALLEY

HABITAT RESTORATION. WRK CONTINUED WORK AT SEVERAL LARGE RESTORATION SITES REMOVING INVASIVE SPECIES AND PLANTING NATIVE FLOODPLAIN SPECIES AT WILLAMETTE MISSION STATE PARK, GAIL ACHTERMAN NATURAL AREA, AND AT MINTO BROWN PARK. WRK PLANTED OVER 100,000 PLANTS AT THESE PROPERTIES. SUCH HABITAT IS CRITICAL TO THE LONG TERM HEALTH OF THE RIVER. WRK ALSO TREATED MULTIPLE SITES FOR THE AQUATIC INVASIVE PLANT LUDWIDGIA, AND CONTINUED TO LEAD THE WILLAMETTE AQUATIC INVASIVES NETWORK TO HELP CURB THE SPREAD OF SUCH INVASIVE PLANTS WITH A RANGE OF PARTNERS. WRK ALSO CONDUCTED A SURVEY OF OVER 100 MILES OF RIVER TO DETECT THE PRESENCE OF AQUATIC INVASIVES.
RIVER DISCOVERY. WRK CONDUCTED OVER 24 FREE PADDLE TRIPS CENTERING ON RIVER RELATED EDUCATION ON VARIOUS STRETCHES OF THE RIVER. WRK GOT OVER 400 PEOPLE ON THE RIVER IN 2022, NOT INCLUDING THE SERVICE TRIPS. WRK ALSO CONDUCTED THE ANNUAL PADDLE OREGON THAT GOT OVER 100 PEOPLE TRAVELING THE WILLAMETTE FOR OVER 85 MILES. WRK ACQUIRED AN ADDITIONAL CANOE TRAILER TO CONTINUE THE GROWTH OF THIS PROGRAM ENABLING MORE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO TAKE PART.
CLEAN WATER RIVER GUARDIAN PROGRAM. WRK CONDUCTED OVER 30 CLEANUP EVENTS FROM EUGENE TO PORTLAND TO REMOVE TRASH AND DEBRIS FROM THE RIVERSIDE. WRK ALSO WORKED AT THE POLICY LEVEL TO REDUCE THE CONTRIBUTION OF TRASH AND DEBRIS INTO THE RIVER WHICH CAN BE HARMFUL TO HUMAN HEALTH AND ECOLOGICAL HEALTH. IN THIS, WRK ENGAGED OVER 400 VOLUNTEERS OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR. WRK ALSO CONTINUED TO WATCHDOG THE SUPERFUND CLEANUP PROCESS FOR THE PORTLAND HARBOR AND CONTINUED ITS WORK TO ENFORCE THE CLEAN WATER ACT. WRK ALSO CONTINUED ITS ONE OF A KIND MUSSEL RESEARCH IN THE WILLAMETTE RIVER BASIN, IN ORDER TO BETTER UNDERSTAND AND PROTECT THE LONG-LIVED WESTERN PEARLSHELL MUSSEL, AS WELL AS OTHER SPECIES.
