THE MISSION OF THE SES PTSA IS TO SUPPORT SUNNYSIDE ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOOL BY ENHANCING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES, SUPPORTING OUR STAFF, AND PROMOTING FAMILY AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN OUR SCHOOL.

SUSTAINABILITY GRANT TO SUNNYSIDE ENVIRONMENTAL SCHOOL: SUPPORTED SUSTAINABILITY TEACHING PROGRAM AND GARDEN VISITS BY ALL STUDENTS. SUSTAINABILITY TEAM LEADS MORNING MEETINGS, LUNCH COMPOSTING AND RECYCLING PROGRAM, HOMELESS MEALS PREPARATION, HUNGER BANQUET, SERVICE IN THE GARDEN AND ALL PLANTING AND HARVESTING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. THIS IS PROVIDED AS THE GRANT TO THE SCHOOL SO THEY CAN CONTRACT WITH A NONPROFIT FOR THESE SERVICES.
ARTS INSTRUCTION GRANT: PROVIDE FOR A WEEKLY MUSIC TEACHER FOR GRADES K-2, FUNDS THE PRODUCTION OF THE PORTLAND MUSICAL FOR GRADE 3, AND PAYS FOR TRAINING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHERS TO BETTER INTEGRATE VISUAL ARTS INTO THEIRCURRICULUM FOR GRADES 4-8.
EQUITY SCHOLARSHIPS: PROVIDED FUNDS TO SUPPORT FEES FOR ATTENDING OVERNIGHT FIELD STUDIES ON BEHALF STUDENTS ON FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH. PROVIDED ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES UNABLE TO PAY COSTS OF OVERNIGHTS.
