HORTLANDIA: THE HORTLANDIA PLANT SALE TAKES PLACE EACH SPRING WITH OFFERINGS FROM THE REGION'S BEST SPECIALTY NURSERIES AND GARDEN ARTISTS. THE 2023 EVENT ATTRACTED 62 VENDORS, RELIED ON THE EFFORTS OF NEARLY 100 VOLUNTEERS, AND ATTRACTED 2,000 SHOPPERS.EDUCATIONAL GARDEN TRAVEL TOURS: THE GARDEN TRAVEL PROGRAM ENABLED 172 PARTICIPANTS TO VISIT PUBLIC AND PRIVATE GARDENS AROUND THE WORLD. PARTICIPANTS LEARNED ABOUT GARDEN DESIGN, PLANT REQUIREMENTS AND COMBINATIONS, AND MET LEADING EXPERTS IN THE FIELD.CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O. SPEAKER PROGRAMS: SPEAKER PROGRAMS ORGANIZED PRESENTATIONS BY EXPERTS ON ISSUES SUCH AS PROPAGATION, GARDEN DESIGN, PLANT COMBINATIONS, AND PRIVATE GARDENS OF SIGNIFICANCE. THE PROGRAMS WERE WATCHED BY SOME 1,500 PEOPLE. SELECT PROGRAMS ALSO INCLUDED PLANT GIVE AWAYS, BOOK SALES, AND INVOLVED COLLABORATING WITH OTHER HORTICULTURAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE REGION INCLUDING THE PORTLAND BOTANICAL GARDENS.
