DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD TO NEEDY INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN EAST MARION COUNTY, OREGON COMMUNITIES AND SURROUNDING RURAL AREAS.

SCFB DISTRIBUTES EMERGENCY FOOD SUPPLIES WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF REDUCING HUNGER IN COMMUNITIES IN EAST MARION COUNTY, OREGON AND SURROUNDING AREAS. IN FY 2021-22, WE SERVED AN AVERAGE OF 254 HOUSEHOLDS AND 841 PEOPLE(598 ADULTS AND 243 CHILDREN) EACH MONTH, A TOTAL OF 3,047 HOUSEHOLDS, 10,087 PEOPLE. THIS WAS A 4.6% DECREASE IN HOUSEHOLDS AND 9.7% DECREASE IN PEOPLE FROM THE PRIOR YEAR. RECIPIENTS QUALIFY BASED ON INCOME LIMITS FOR THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURES(USDA),THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM(TEFAP). WE GET USDA, OREGON FOOD BANK AND MARION-POLK FOOD SHARE FOOD DONATIONS; AND FOOD,CASH,AND SERVICE TIME DONATIONS FROM COMMUNITY MEMBERS,LOCAL BUSINESSES, CHURCHES, SCHOOLS, AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS. SCFB USES THE FOOD DONATIONS AND OTHER PURCHASED FOOD TO PROVIDE A 3-4 DAY SUPPLY OF NUTRITIONALLY-BALANCED FOOD FOR EACH HOUSEHOLD WHO APPLIES FOR ASSISTANCE. THE DECREASE WAS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC AND BEACHIE CREEK WILDFIRE; MORE FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN RECEIVED FEDERAL AND STATE SUPPORTS DURING THIS TIME.
