GREAT COMMUNITIES:- ENSURED ALL OREGON'S MEDIUM- AND LARGE-SIZED CITIES (56 TOTAL) IMPLEMENTED HB 2001 (MISSING MIDDLE HOUSING BILL) EFFECTIVELY, FAIRLY AND ON TIME BY MEETING WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS, CITY AND TOWN OFFICIALS, AND ACTIVATING COMMUNITY MEMBERS.- SERVED ON THE LAND CONSERVATION & DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION'S RULES ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO DESIGN MORE WALKABLE, BIKEABLE, NEIGHBORHOODS WITH DENSE, AFFORDABLE HOUSING ACROSS OREGON'S 8 METRO REGIONS THROUGH CLIMATE FRIENDLY & EQUITABLE COMMUNITIES RULEMAKING. HEALTHY WORKING LANDS:- LED A STATEWIDE COALITION ADVOCATING THE PASSAGE OF SB 762, A BILL THAT WOULD HELP PROTECT OREGON FROM CATASTROPHIC WILDFIRES AND ASSIST COMMUNITIES IN RECOVERING FROM INCREASINGLY SEVERE FIRE SEASONS.- PROVIDED LAND USE LEGAL ASSISTANCE THROUGHOUT OREGON TO PROTECT URBAN GROWTH BOUNDARIES AND FIGHT DEVELOPMENT ON FARMLAND.- RELEASED OUR ""DEATH BY 1000 CUTS"" REPORT, WITH POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROTECTING OREGON'S FARM, RANCH AND FORESTLANDS FROM THE EXCESSIVE AND GROWING LIST OF NONFARM USES. - GREW OUR FARMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND WORKED WITH MEMBERS TO ENGAGE THEIR LEGISLATORS ON BILLS AND POLICIES THAT WOULD AFFECT WORKING LANDS. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)- CHALLENGED EFFORTS TO REZONE 830 ACRES OF PRIME FARMLAND IN PORT WESTWARD AND 200 ACRES IN POLK COUNTY.- STOPPED THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LARGE-SCALE CONCERT VENUE ON FARMLAND IN HOOD RIVER COUNTY AND STOPPED THE EXPANSION OF THE AURORA AIRPORT ONTO VALUABLE FARMLAND.- MONITORED A UGB EXPANSION IN THE CITY OF TURNER AND THROUGH OUR ADVOCACY SUPPORT, THE CITY DOWNSIZED THEIR PLANNED EXPANSION FROM 70 TO 49 ACRES AND CHOSE AREAS TO EXPAND THAT PROTECT FARMLAND. THE CITY OF EUGENE TOOK OUR RECOMMENDATION TO PROTECT OVER 400 ACRES OF PRIME FARMLAND FROM URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT 50 YEARS.
LAND USE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE:- DESIGNED, ORGANIZED AND CONDUCTED THREE LAND USE LEADERSHIP COHORTS A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO TRAIN OREGON'S NEXT GENERATION OF LAND USE ADVOCATES WITH A TOTAL OF 70 PARTICIPANTS IN SOUTHERN OREGON, PORTLAND METRO AREA, AND THE SOUTHERN WILLAMETTE VALLEY.- EXPANDED THE LAND USE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE INTO THE SOUTHERN WILLAMETTE VALLEY WITH PLANS TO EXPAND INTO CENTRAL OREGON IN 2022.- LAUNCHED A LAND USE LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE ALUMNI NETWORK TO CONNECT PAST AND PRESENT PARTICIPANTS AND BUILD COMMUNITY NETWORKS OF ADVOCATES TO TAKE ON LOCAL LAND USE DECISIONS THAT IMPACT THEIR COMMUNITIES TOGETHER.
