THE MISSION OF JUNEAU DANCE THEATRE IS TO NURTURE DISCIPLINE, CONFIDENCE, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS AND CREATIVITY THROUGH PROFESSIONAL DANCE INSTRUCTION AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES; TO FOSTER AN APPRECIATION OF THE ART OF DANCE IN THE JUNEAU COMMUNITY; AND TO DEVELOP ARTISTIC CREATIVITY AND SKILLS IN BOTH VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS THROUGH ITS ANNUAL FINE ARTS CAMP.

Part 3 - Line 4a
TEACH VARIOUS DISCIPLINES OF DANCE CLASSES TO APPROXIMATELY 160 STUDENTS OF ALL AGES AND HOLD PUBLIC PERFORMANCES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. INSTRUCTION IN CLASSICAL BALLET AND LIVE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES PROMOTES SELF CONFIDENCE, DISCIPLINE AND COMMITMENT FOR STUDENTS. OUR WINTER PRODUCTION OF THE NUTRACKER BALLET IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE TO 1,000 ELEMENTARY AGED SCHOOL CHILDREN, AND INTRODUCES THE ART OF BALLET TO YOUNG CHILDREN WHO MIGHT NOT OTHERWISE HAVE EXPOSURE TO SUCH AN ART.
PROMOTING ARTS IN THE COMMUNITY BY HOLDING A YOUTH FINE ARTS CAMP. INSTRUCTION IN PERFORMING AND VISUAL ARTS AND MUSIC IS PROVIDED TO APPROXIMATELY 250 ELEMENTARY AGE CHILDREN, OVER A FOUR WEEK PERIOD FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENRICHING CHILDREN'S ART EXPERIENCE. TUITION ASSISTANCE AND FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE AND PROVIDED TO FAMILIES BASED ON FINANCIAL NEED.
