ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION -SEATTLE AUDUBON'S ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS CONNECT WITH MORE THAN 1,500 CHILDREN AND ADULTS EACH YEAR. SPECIFICALLY, THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE:1. NATURE CAMP, A SUMMER EDUCATION EXPERIENCE FOR APPROXIMATELY 400 CHILDREN PER YEAR.2. ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, AND ADVANCED BIRDING CLASSES ON A WIDE RANGE OF BIRD, WILDLIFE, EQUITY, AND CONSERVATION TOPICS.3. FIELD TRIPS AND NEIGHBORHOOD BIRD OUTINGS PROVIDE ADULTS WITH IN-FIELD EXPERIENCE TO IDENTIFY, LEARN ABOUT, AND ENJOY BIRDS AND BIRDING AS PART OF A COMMUNITY. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)4. SPECIFIC PROGRAMS INCLUDE:1. SEATTLE AUDUBON PARTNERS WITH CAPITOL HILL ECODISTRICT LEADING THE CAPITOL HILL CONNECTIONS PROGRAM, WHICH IS WORKING TO ENHANCE HABITAT QUALITY AND CONNECTIVITY AND MAKE THE NEIGHBORHOOD A NATIONAL MODEL FOR ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND COMMUNITY HEALTH.2. SEATTLE AUDUBON SERVES ON SEATTLE'S URBAN FORESTRY COMMISSION, BRINGING A VOICE FOR BIRDS TO THE TABLE FOR KEY DECISION-MAKING AROUND OUR URBAN FOREST. OUR NATURE SHOP IN THE WEDGWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD OF SEATTLE IS AVAILABLE SEVEN DAYS A WEEK TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT APPRECIATING, UNDERSTANDING, AND PROTECTING BIRDS.
COMMUNITY SCIENCESEATTLE AUDUBON MOBILIZES VOLUNTEERS THROUGHOUT THE REGION TO MAINTAIN FIVE COMMUNITY SCIENCE PROJECTS TO MONITOR THE STATUS OF LOCAL BIRD POPULATIONS. 1. NEIGHBORHOOD BIRD PROJECT MONITORS BIRD SPECIES DIVERSITY IN URBAN PARKS AND GREENSPACES THROUGHOUT THE SEATTLE AREA THANKS TO THE WORK OF COMMUNITY SCIENTISTS, AND EMPOWERS COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BECOME ADVOCATES FOR WILDLIFE HABITAT CONSERVATION.2. THE SEATTLE BIRD COLLISION MONITORING PROJECT IS A COMMUNITY SCIENCE INITIATIVE THAT AIMS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND AND PREVENT BIRD WINDOW COLLISIONS IN THE SEATTLE AREA.3.
