LAKEWOOD'S PROJECT SHEPHERD IS A NON-PROFIT, COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION WITH THE MISSION TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LAKEWOOD RESIDENTS IN NEED.

Part 3 - Line 4a

IN AN EFFORT TO IDENTIFY AND SERVE AS MANY RESIDENTS AS POSSIBLE,LAKEWOOD CONTINUES MANY SMALL PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION TO PROGRAMS TO HELP WITH UTILITY PAYMENTS FOR RESIDENTS, IT HAS MANY PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN. BACKPACKS, HELMETS, SCOOTERS AND TOYS AT CHRISTMAS WERE ALL ITEMS ADDRESSED IN 2023. LAKEWOOD SPONSORS A SOFTBALL TOURNMENT AS WELL. THE WELL RECEIVED BACKPACK PROGRAM SERVED 460 CHILDREN AND TEENS. THEIR YEAR ROUND PROGRAM SERVED 275 FAMILIES WITH 860 INDIVDUALS IN 2023. THE CITY WAS ABLE TO PROVIDE 29 RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS AS WELL. ITS SINGLE LARGEST PROGRAM REMAINS THE HOLIDAY PROGRAM. STARTING IN NOVEMBER, LOW INCOME RESIDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR ASSISTANCE AND WILL RECEIVE A BOX OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD, A GIFT CARD TO PURCHASE PERISHABLE ITEMS AT A GROCERY STORE AND ONE $25.00 GIFT PER REGISTERED CHILD. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 467 FAMILIES WITH 1761 INDIVIDUALS IN 2023.
