LAKEWOOD'S PROJECT SHEPHERD IS A NON-PROFIT, COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION WITH THE MISSION TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO LAKEWOOD RESIDENTS IN NEED.

IN AN EFFORT TO IDENTIFY AND SERVE AS MANY RESIDENTS AS POSSIBLE, LAKEWOOD CONTINUES MANY SMALL PROGRAMS. IN ADDITION TO PROGRAMS TO HELP WITH UTILITY PAYMENTS FOR RESIDENTS, IT HAS MANY PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN. BACKPACKS, HELMETS, SCOOTERS AND TOYS AT CHRISTMAS WERE ALL ITEMS ADDRESSED IN 2021. LAKEWOOD SPONSORS A LOCAL GOLF TOURNMENT AND A SOFTBALL TOURNMENT AS WELL. ITS SINGLE LARGEST PROGRAM REMAINS THE HOLIDAY PROGRAM. STARTING IN NOVEMBER, LOW INCOME RESIDENTS CAN REGISTER FOR ASSISTANCE AND WILL RECEIVE A BOX OF NON-PERISHABLE FOOD, A GIFT CARD TO PURCHASE PERISHABLE ITEMS AT A GROCERY STORE AND ONE $25.00 GIFT PER REGISTERED CHILD. THIS PROGRAM SERVED 417 FAMILIES AND 1487 INDIVIDUALS IN 2021.
