Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

CONSERVATION OPERATIONS:INVASIVE SPECIES ARE A LEADING CAUSE OF EXTINCTIONS ON ISLANDS AND BIODIVERSITY LOSS GLOBALLY. AS THE THREATS OF EXTINCTION ARE HIGHEST ON ISLANDS, SO ARE OUR OPPORTUNITIES TO SAVE SPECIES AT RISK. SINCE 1994, WE'VE PROTECTED 224 POPULATIONS OF 492 PLANT AND ANIMAL SPECIES AROUND THE WORLD BY REMOVING INVASIVE SPECIES FROM ISLANDS. ISLAND CONSERVATION SUPPORTS LOCAL ISLAND COMMUNITIES' INITIATIVES TO IMPROVE LIVELIHOODS, MANAGE INVASIVE SPECIES, AND REINTRODUCE NATIVE ANIMALS AND PLANT LIFE. THROUGH THIS, WE FOSTER SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, CLIMATE RESILIENCE, AND HEALTHY ISLAND MARINE ECOSYSTEMS ACROSS THE GLOBE.

CONSERVATION IMPACT AND INNOVATION:TO ASSESS IF ISLAND RESTORATION EFFORTS ARE PROTECTING IMPERILED SPECIES SPECIES, ISLAND CONSERVATION MONITORS, MEASURES AND MAPS TARGETED SPECIES AND THEIR HABITATS BEFORE AND AFTER OUR CONSERVATION INTERVENTION. SCIENTIFICALLY DOCUMENTING THE RESPONSE OF ISLAND SPECIES AND ECOSYSTEMS ALSO ENABLES US TO ADJUST AND IMPROVE ISLAND RESTORATION STRATEGIES AND TOOLS. ISLAND CONSERVATION PURSUES INNOVATIVE TOOLS TO PREVENT EXTINCTIONS AND PROTECT ISLAND COMMUNITIES, NATIVE SPECIES, CORAL REEFS, AND OTHER NEARSHORE ECOSYSTEMS. WE AIM TO INCREASE THE SCOPE, SCALE, AND PACE OF ISLAND RESTORATION PROJECTS GLOBALLY.
