GOT GREEN ORGANIZES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL, RACIAL, AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE AS A SOUTH SEATTLE-BASED GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION, WORKING TO ENSURE THAT THE BENEFITS OF THE GREEN MOVEMENT AND GREEN ECONOMY REACH LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES AND COMMUNITIES OF COLOR.

LEADERSHIP/CAPACITY: THIS COMMITTEE SPENT TIME HOSTING ONLINE ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND LEARNING SESSIONS AROUND EMERGENCY HUBS AND THE NEED FOR THESE SPACES TO EXIST SO THAT THE COMMUNITY HAS SOMEWHERE TO GO WHEN A CLIMATE DISASTER HAPPENS. THIS COMMITTEE ALSO HOSTS OUTREACH EVENTS TO GROW OUR BASE.


FOOD TEAM: LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE FOOD SECURITY FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, ENGAGING COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN VIRTUAL COOKING DEMOS AND LEARNING ABOUT FOOD JUSTICE. THIS COMMITTEE ALSO SIGNED UP 400 FAMILIES FOR THE CITY OF SEATTLE'S FRESH BUCKS PROGRAM AS WELL AS OVERSAW CITY OF SEATTLE POLICY AND FUNDING TO MAKE SURE THE COMMUNITY CAN HAVE ACCESS TO FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES.
