FOUNDED IN 1979, THE WASHINGTON STATE FARMERS MARKET ASSOCIATION (WSFMA) IS A 501(C)3 NONPROFIT, MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO SUPPORT VIBRANT AND SUSTAINABLE FARMERS MARKETS IN WASHINGTON STATE THROUGH MEMBER SERVICES, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.

GROWING A STATEWIDE NETWORK OF WSFMA "REGIONAL LEADS" WHO WORK WITH LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS THROUGHOUT WASHINGTON STATE TO ENSURE LOW-INCOME FAMILIES CAN BUY FRESH, LOCAL, AND HEALTHY FOODS FROM FARMERS THROUGH FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMS SUCH AS SNAP, THE FARMERS MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM, AND MATCHING OR "INCENTIVE" PROGRAMS.


PROMOTING WSFMA FARMERS MARKETS THROUGHOUT WASHINGTON STATE SO THAT FARMERS HAVE VIBRANT, LOCAL MARKETPLACES AND DIRECT CONNECTIONS WITH SHOPPERS; FARMLAND IS SUSTAINED; ARTISAN AND OTHER SMALL BUSINESS VENDORS GROW; COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACES THRIVE; AND EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOODS.


PROVIDING CRITICAL PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, NETWORKING, AND RESOURCES TO FARMERS MARKET ORGANIZERS THROUGH AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE; VIDEO FORUMS; ONLINE TOOLS; AND IN-PERSON TRAININGS SO THEY CAN EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THE INCREASING DEMANDS OF RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL FARMERS MARKET.
