WILDLAND ADVOCACY - IN 2022, ONE OF THE WAYS WA WILD ADVOCATED FOR WILD LANDS WAS BY LEADING STATEWIDE COALITION EFFORTS TO PERMANENTLY PROTECT WILDLANDS AND WATERS IN THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA. AS A MEMBER OF THE WILD OLYMPICS CAMPAIGN, WA WILD WORKED TO INCREASE LOCAL SUPPORT FOR NEW WILDERNESS AND WILD AND SCENIC RIVER BUSINESSES, ELECTED OFFICIALS AND CONSERVATION, RECREATION, HUNTING AND FISHING ORGANIZATIONS. THE WILD OLYMPICS LEGISLATION PASSED THE HOUSE AND CLEARED THE COMMITTEE PROCESS IN THE SENATE, MAKING IT FURTHER IN THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS THAN EVER. WA WILD ALSO COORDINATED LETTERS SIGNED BY A BROAD COALITION OF 137 SPORTSMAN GROUPS, OUTDOOR RECREATION GROUPS, CONSERVATION AND CIVIC GROUPS, ELECTED OFFICIALS, BREWSHED ALLIANCE MEMBERS, AND LOCAL BUSINESSES URGING THE WA DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY TO DESIGNATE THREE WASHINGTON RIVERS AS OUTSTANDING RESOURCE WATERS.
