TO PROVIDE FOOD, SHELTER, CLOTHING AND OTHER SERVICES TO PEOPLE IN NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
SPECIAL PROJECTS OPERATED BY THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY COUNCIL OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, BEDS FOR CHILDREN, PROJECT PRIDE, GENERAL ASSISTANCE AND LONG TERM ASSISTANCE PROJECTS. OUR BEDS FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM PROVIDES BEDS FOR CHILDREN OFTEN FOUND SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR. THE PROJECT PRIDE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH SNOHOMISH COUNTY PUD FOR PEOPLE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE TO PAY THEIR ELECTRIC BILL. THE GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM HELPS WITH IMMEDIATE AID SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING, RENT, BUS FARE OR ANY OTHER BASIC NEED THAT IS IMMEDIATE. OUR LONG TERM ASSISTANCE PROJECTS ARE FOR CLIENTS WHO THROUGH FOCUSED CASE WORK WILL BENEFIT FROM ONGOING ASSISTANCE IN AN EFFORT TO LIFT THEM OUT OF A CYCLE OF POVERTY. DURING THE 2017-2018 FISCAL YEAR, REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE RESULTED IN OVER 90,000 CONTACTS TO PEOPLE IN NEED ALL OVER THE NORTH SOUND REGION. ALL FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE USED IN THEIR ENTIRETY FOR THESE DIRECT SERVICE.
OPERATE A THRIFT STORE SYSTEM THAT PROVIDES LOW COST GOODS, INCLUDING CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, FOR PEOPLE WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD MORE EXPENSIVE GOODS. OUR THRIFT STORES ALSO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY INCLUDING AGENCIES WHO PROVIDE JOB TRAINING FOR THE DISABLED. THE THRIFT STORE SYSTEM OF THREE STORES (TWO LOCATIONS) PROVIDE THE REVENUE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE COUNCIL TO OPERATE.
