HOUSTON APHASIA RECOVERY CENTER IS RECOGNIZED AS THE PREMIER RESOURCE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY APHASIA. WE ARE DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING COMMUNICATION, GENERATING AWARENESS, FACILITATING RESEARCH, AND FOSTERING WELLNESS AND RECOVERY IN A LIFE-AFFIRMING ENVIRONMENT.

Part 3 - Line 4a

APHASIA IS A DIFFICULTY WITH COMMUNICATION, SPEAKING, OR UNDERSTANDING WORDS DUE TO A STROKE OR BRAIN INJURY. HARC HAS OVER 18 DIFFERENT ROTATING PROGRAMS THAT ARE OFFERED TO ALL PARTICIPANTS AS A WHOLE. THE PROGRAMS INCLUDE CONVERSATIONS, MUSIC, ART EXPRESSION, BOOK CLUB, WRITING WORKSHOP, EXERCISE, COMPUTER, AND APHASIA COMMUNITY TASKFORCE (ACT). PARTICIPANTS WITH APHASIA WILL PRACTICE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES DURING VARIOUS ACTIVITIES WITHIN A SAFE, SUPPORTED ENVIRONMENT. GROUP TOPICS RANGE FROM PERSONAL AND SOCIAL CURRENT EVENTS TO LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS.BEGINNING FEBRUARY 2022, HARC RESUMED IN-PERSON PROGRAMS TWO DAYS A WEEK AND FOUR DAYS VIRTUALLY.
