EDUCATION - AF (USA) MAKES THE BUILDING AND IMPROVEMENT OF PRESCHOOLS, PRIMARY SCHOOLS, AND HIGH SCHOOLS A PRIORITY BELIEVING THAT THROUGH EDUCATION, RURAL PEOPLE CAN BREAK THE CYCLE OF POVERTY. FUNDS ($261,218) WERE DISTRIBUTED TO CLASSROOMS, KITCHENS, AND FACILITIES PROJECTS IN SOUTH AFRICA, TANZANIA, AND KENYA. AF (USA) HELPED FUND THE COMMUNITY LEADERS EDUCATION FUND (CLEF) ($57,950). THIS PROGRAM HAS THE GOAL OF EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES BY BUILDING LEADERSHIP AND ENABLING INDIVIDUALS TO REALIZE THEIR DREAMS. THE PROGRAM HAS TWO COMPONENTS, THE ACADEMIC SPONSORSHIP AND THE RECIPIENT'S REQUIREMENT THAT THEY SHARE THEIR NEWLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS WITH THEIR COMMUNITIES.
INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES - AFRICA FOUNDATION (USA) HELPS FOSTER INCOME-GENERATING ACTIVITIES TO STRENGTHEN RURAL COMMUNITIES, WHOSE MEMBERS MUST HAVE A SOURCE OF INCOME TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES. AFRICA FOUNDATION (USA) FUNDS VARIOUS ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND PROVIDES ENTREPRENEURIAL SUPPORT TO FARMERS IN MPUMALANGA PROVINCE ($149,916), AND BUILDS SKILL CENTERS AND MARKETS IN WHICH COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN SELL THEIR PRODUCTS.
HEALTHCARE AND CLEAN WATER - AFRICA FOUNDATION (USA) DISTRIBUTED FUNDS ($35,324) TO BUILD A KITCHEN AND DINING FACILITY FOR A HOME-BASED CARE CENTER IN MPUMALANGA, SOUTH AFRICA.
