THE PROMOTION OF A HEALTHY DEMOCRACY THROUGH RESEARCH, ENGAGEMENT AND EDUCATION OF THE CITIZENS OF INDIANA ABOUT THE POSITIONS OF PUBLIC OFFICIALS, LEGISLATIVE BILLS, AND PROPOSED LEGISLATIVE ACTION ON ISSUES RELATED TO A HEALTHY DEMOCRACY, EDUCATION, THE ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMIC JUSTICE, AND HUMAN RIGHTS. THE ORGANIZATION'S EXEMPT PURPOSE INCLUDES ENCOURAGING INCREASED CIVIC PARTICIPATION BY THE CITIZENS OF INDIANA THROUGH EDUCATION AND TRAINING ON LEGISLATIVE SKILLS, ELECTORAL SKILLS, AND CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT.

SUPPORTING ISSUE AND EDUCATION ADVOCACY:THE ORGANIZATION WILL WORK WITH ORGANIZATIONS IN THE STATE TO INFORM AND ENGAGE HOOSIERS ON ISSUES RELATED TO HEALTHY DEMOCRACY, EDUCATION, THE ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMIC JUSTICE, AND HUMAN RIGHTS. THIS ACTIVITY COMPRISES ABOUT 40 PERCENT OF THE ORGANIZATION'S TOTAL ACTIVITY AND SPECIFICALLY INCLUDES:1. SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO MOBILIZE INDIANA RESIDENTS ON PRIORITY POLICY MATTERS BEFORE THE STATE LEGISLATURE AND CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION.INFORMING INDIANA RESIDENTS ABOUT HOW THEIR REPRESENTATIVES HAVE VOTED ON PRIORITY POLICY ISSUES LIKE A HEALTHY DEMOCRACY, EDUCATION, THE ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMIC JUSTICE, AND HUMAN RIGHTS.2. FACILITATE COORDINATION AMONG INDIANA ORGANIZATIONS TO MAXIMIZE THE IMPACT OF THEIR ADVOCACY EFFORTS ON ISSUES RELATED TO THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY PURPOSE.FACILITATE THE SHARING OF BEST PRACTICES FOR INFORMING AND ENGAGING HOOSIERS ON PRIORITY LEGISLATIVE ISSUES.
