BIRDS FOR SOFIA SUPPORTS CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH RARE, INHERITABLE DISEASES FROM EASTERN EUROPE. WE HELP FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WITH RARE DISEASES ACCESS MEDICAL CARE, GENETIC TESTING, REHABILITATION, AND EQUIPMENT NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. SINCE THE WAR IN UKRAINE, WE HELPED TO RE-ESTABLISH MEDICAL CARE AND ACCESS TO HOUSING DURING MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR A NUMBER OF UKRAINIAN FAMILIES IN THE USA, WHO WERE CONFIRMED "UNITING FOR UKRAINE" PAROLEES.

MEDICAL SUPPORT FOR UKRAINIAN CHILDREN WITH RARE DISEASES PROGRAM SERVED 241 CHILDREN WITH RARE DISEASES FROM UKRAINE. BFS DELIVERED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SUCH AS OXYGEN CONCENTRATORS, NIVL BREATHING DEVICES, ELECTRICITY GENERATORS, WHEELCHAIRS, STANDING FRAMES, SITTERS, AND OTHER MOST NEEDED MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, AS WELL AS PAID FOR MEDICAL SERVICES OR PROVIDED INDIVIDUAL GRANTS TO COVER MEDICAL SERVICES/NUTRITION FOR CHILDREN IN UKRAINE AND IN EUROPE (ONLY THOSE NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE)


SMA PROGRAM HELPED 2 CHILDREN TO FUNDRAISE FOR LIFE-SAVING TREATMENTS.


THE UNBIASED GENETIC DISEASE PROGRAM SERVED FOUR PATIENTS FROM EASTERN EUROPE AND HELPED TO COVER MEDICATIONS, REHABILITATION SERVICES, AND HOSPITAL TREATMENTS INCLUDING COMPLEX SURGERY FOR CHILDREN WITH LESS-KNOWN RARE DISEASES.


USA RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM ASSISTED 9 CHILDREN WITH LIFE-THREATENING CONDITIONS SUCH AS SPINAL MUSCULAR ATROPHY AND CYSTIC FIBROSIS. BFS HELPED FAMILIES WITH HOUSING, PAYMENTS FOR FOOD/BASIC NECESSITIES, AND TRANSPORTATION.
