Part 3 - Line 4a
TAKEMEHOME OFFERS MAILED HIV AND STI TESTING FREE TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN AREAS WITH PARTICIPATING STATE OR LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS. DURING 2021, TAKEMEHOME MAILED OUT ABOUT 8,000 KITS. MANY PARTICIPANTS (OVER 1/3) REPORTED THAT IT WAS THEIR FIRST TIME GETTING AN HIV TEST, DEMONSTRATING THAT OFFERING HOME TESTING AND PROMOTING THROUGH BHOC'S PARTNERSHIP WITH DATING APPS HAS SUCCESSFULLY ENGAGED NEW POPULATIONS IN SEXUAL HEALTH TESTING.
BHOC GATHERS DATA ON DEMOGRAPHIC, BEHAVIORAL, AND SERVICE UTILIZATION TRENDS AMONG MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN (MSM) LIVING IN SAN FRANCISCO. BHOC RECRUITS MSM TO COMPLETE A SURVEY WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PARTICIPANTS' BACKGROUND, SEXUAL ACTIVITY, SUBSTANCE USE, AND SEXUAL HEALTH TESTING, PREVENTION, AND CARE. ONCE COMPILED, BHOC ANALYZES THE DATA AND CREATES A REPORT FOR THE SAN FRANCISCO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH. IN THE FALL OF 2021, BHOC COLLECTED RESPONSES FROM 499 MSM IN SAN FRANCISCO.
NICEAF.ORG IS A CAMPAIGN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DATING APPS THAT AIMS TO IMPROVE DATING APP USERS' EXPERIENCES AND REDUCE EXPERIENCES OF STIGMA, HARASSMENT, AND DISRESPECT ON THE APPS. BHOC PARTNERED WITH 9 DATING APPS TO PROMOTE THIS PROJECT, AND GATHERED INPUT FROM 5500 DATING APP USERS. WITH THEIR INPUT, WE PUT FORWARD 20 RECOMMENDATIONS TO DATING APPS ABOUT HOW THEY CAN IMPROVE APPS TO REDUCE NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES OF USERS.
OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES INCLUDE PROVIDING CONSULTATION AND SEXUAL HEALTH CONTENT DIRECTLY TO DATING APPS TO SUPPORT SEXUAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING FOR APP USERS. ADDITIONALLY, THIS YEAR WE WERE RESPONSIVE TO THE URGENT AND EMERGING NEED FOR MONKEYPOX EDUCATION AND MESSAGING. THESE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES ACCOUNT FOR A TOTAL OF $24,913 IN EXPENSES IN 2021.
