BE BODY POSITIVE PHILLY (BBPP) IS A TEN-WEEK, AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE PROGRAM SEEKS TO REDUCE EATING DISORDER RISK BY INTRODUCING A PREVENTATIVE INTERVENTION COMBINING A VALIDATED BODY POSITIVITY CURRICULUM WITH AN INNOVATIVE NEAR-PEER MENTORSHIP MODEL. IN 2022, OUR PROGRAM REACHED OVER 200 STUDENTS ACROSS 13 PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS. STATISTICAL ANALYSES OF OUR OUTCOMES DATA SHOWED A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN EATING DISORDER SYMPTOMS MEASURED IN OUR PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS (P < 0.001) AS WELL AS A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN BODY APPRECIATION (P < 0.001). THE TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR STUDENTS ALSO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR WORK. WHEN ASKED WHAT THEY LIKED ABOUT OUR PROGRAM, STUDENTS SAID: "BBPP IS ALL ABOUT LOVING EVERY PART OF YOURSELF AND WHEN YOU DO, YOU'LL BE UNSTOPPABLE." "BEING ABLE TO WORK TOGETHER AND KNOW YOU'RE NOT ALONE. PEOPLE CAN HAVE THE SAME STRUGGLE AND THERE ARE OTHERS THAT CAN BE THERE TO SUPPORT YOU." THESE RESULTS FUEL US TO CONTINUE OUR MISSION AND EXPAND OUR PROGRAM'S REACH.
