TO PROVIDE THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE, WORK, LEARN AND PLAY IN AND AROUND BOULDER, COLORADO, WITH HIGH-QUALITY, TRUSTWORTHY, LOCAL-FIRST REPORTING AND ESSENTIAL INFORMATION TO MAKE SENSE OF ISSUES AND EVENTS HAPPENING AROUND THEM, NAVIGATE THEIR LIVES AND BUILD COMMUNITY.

LAUNCHED ONLINE NEWSROOM IN COLORADO WITH BOULDER REPORTING LAB NEWSLETTER PUBLISHED 3 TIMES PER WEEK. THE ORGANIZATION HAS GAINED 3,400 NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS BY DECEMBER 31, 2021. AS PART OF OF THAT LAUNCH, BRL DEBUTED A WEBSITE THAT IS HOME TO IN-DEPTH JOURNALISM, WHICH IS FREE FOR ALL CONSUMERS, ON ISSUES OF COMMUNITY SIGNIFICANCE. BRL ALSO BEGAN PUBLISHING A FREE NEWSLETTER THREE TIMES A WEEK THAT CONTAINS VITAL COMMUNITY NEWS AND INFORMATION THAT HELPS BOULDER LOCALS NAVIGATE THEIR LIVES. THE NEWSLETTER SERVES TO CURATE AND ORGANIZE LOCAL INFORMATION AND MAKE IT BROADLY ACCESSIBLE AND USEFUL.IN EARLY FALL OF 2021, BOULDER REPORTING LAB SECURED A MULTI-YEAR GRANT TO LAUNCH A NEW DIGITAL, NONPROFIT NEWS ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO INFORM RESIDENTS AS COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER REPORTING DECLINES LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY AMID CONSOLIDATION AND OWNERSHIP BY FINANCIAL FIRMS. IN 2021, BRL RAISED ADDITIONAL FUNDING TO HIRE A LOCAL CLIMATE SOLUTIONS REPORTER, ONE OF THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN COLORADO, TO FOCUS ON LOCAL WILDFIRE RISKS AND MITIGATION, AS WELL AS FLOOD AND DROUGHT ISSUES, THE TRANSFORMATION TO A CLEAN ENERGY ECONOMY, AND MORE.
