PROVIDING GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT ENABLING STUDENTS OF THE OJAI VALLEY TO ACCESS HIGHER EDUCATION STARTING AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL AND THROUGHOUT HIGH SCHOOL.IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, STUDENTS MET FOR ONE HOUR A WEEK TO LEARN ABOUT COLLEGES, TO LEARN ABOUT CURRICULUM CHOICES IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND TO HEAR FROM ADULTS WHO WERE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILY TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE, FOR EXAMPLE. MATH TUTORING WAS ALSO PROVIDED TO STUDENTS EVERY WEEK.THE STUDENTS THEN CONTINUED IN THE OVERALL PROGRAM OF O-HIGHER ED ONCE THEY REACHED HIGH SCHOOL AND SHIFTED TO ONE-ON-ONE MEETINGS. NINTH, TENTH AND ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS IN O-HIGHER ED MET ONCE EVERY FOUR TO SIX WEEKS TO SET GOALS, PLAN CURRICULUM CHOICES, NAVIGATE EXAMS AND COMPLETE BIG ASSIGNMENTS. IN JUNIOR YEAR THEY WERE INTRODUCED TO COLLEGE KICKSTART TO BEGIN BUILDING THEIR COLLEGE LISTS. DURING SENIOR YEAR, THEY MET MORE FREQUENTLY, APPROXIMATELY ONCE A WEEK, TO WORK THROUGH THEIR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS. FIELD TRIPS WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO LOCAL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.
