UTAH INDUSTRIES FOR THE BLIND PROMOTES AND DONATES TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE GOODS AND SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS. IN ADDITION, WE RUN OUR OWN UWIN PROGRAM (UTAH WORK INTRODUCTION NETWORK) FOR STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS TRANSITIONING INTO ADULTHOOD (AGES 16-21). THROUGH THE UWIN PROGRAM, STUDENTS LEARN INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS BY PRACTICING THE FOLLOWING SKILLS IN A SUPPORTED APARTMENT SETTING: EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY (30 HRS/WEEK), COOKING, CLEANING, MEAL PLANNING, BUDGETING, & GROCERY SHOPPING. UIB RECEIVES GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FROM THE STATE OF UTAH. THIS SUPPORT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO HELP MORE INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS. UIB ALSO RECEIVES REVENUE FROM AN INVESTMENT FUND THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO HELP EVEN MORE INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS. UIB BENEFITED EIGHTEEN PEOPLE THIS YEAR THROUGH THE UWIN PROGRAM. UIB ALSO DONATED MONIES THIS YEAR TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS
