WE AMPLIFY ABILITIES AND CREATE BREAKTHROUGHS IN YOUTH BY COMBINING ART EDUCATION AND NATURE-BASED LEARNING. FUNCTIONAL CERAMICS PROGRAM HELPS MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN CERAMIC ART, PLANT CULTIVATION AND FOOD JUSTICE. 63 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM.
RICHMOND PUBLIC SCHOOLS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS HELP YOUTH TAKE RESOURCES FROM NATURE TO CREATE ART, WHILE THINKING OF WAYS TO GIVE BACK TO NATURE THROUGH COLLABORATION AND ART. 21 PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED IN 13 SCHOOLS AND 510 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM.
IN TUNE IS AN OPEN SPACE EDUCATION MURAL PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FRIENDS OF JEFFERSON PARK BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF METRO RICHMOND, AND MLK MIDDLE SCHOOL. BY LEARNING ABOUT THE TREES, PLANTS, AND ANIMALS THAT LIVE THERE, AS WELL AS THE VARIED HISTORIES OF THE PARK, STUDENTS COLLABORATIVELY CREATED A MURAL THAT EXPRESSES THE ENERGY UNIQUE TO THIS LOCATION
