THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO GIVE YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE RICHMOND VIRGINIA METROPOLITAN AREA THE CHANCE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES THROUGH ART AND TO SHARE THEIR STORIES WITH OTHERS.ART 180 SERVES THE GREATER RICHMOND AREA BY PROVIDING A SPACE, FREE OF JUDGMENT, THAT ENCOURAGES CREATIVE SELF-EXPRESSION WHILE DEVELOPING LOCAL YOUNG CREATORS AND PROMOTING THEM THROUGH EXHIBITIONS, PERFORMANCES, PUBLIC ART, PUBLICATIONS, AND MORE.

IN 2021, ART 180 CONDUCTED 36 PROGRAMS IN CREATIVE EXPRESSION FOR 474 8-TO-18 YEAR OLDS LED BY MORE THAN 57 ARTISTS. WE ENGAGED WITH 25 PARTNERS WHO WORK WITH A VARIETY OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES TO RUN MULTI-WEEK, AFTER-SCHOOL ARTS PROGRAMS. WE DELIVERED 627 PROGRAM HOURS FROM COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SCHOOLS AND YOUTH-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS; AND TEEN PROGRAM AT ATLAS, OUR YOUTH ART CENTER AND GALLERY. ART 180 PROGRAM LEADERS INCORPORATED THE THEME 'BREATHE' TO ADDRESS SELF-CARE THROUGH MINDFULNESS, SOCIAL INJUSTICE AND HOW THE ACT OF BREATHING GIVES US SPACE.
