Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP GIVING:ONE FOR DEMOCRACY CONTINUED TO INVEST DEEPLY IN ENGAGING BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND CHARITABLE FOUNDATIONS TO MAKE LONG-TERM COMMITMENTS TO PROTECTING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY. IN 2021, 114 INDIVIDUALS AND FOUNDATIONS TOOK OR RENEWED THEIR PLEDGE TO GIVE 1% OR MORE OF THEIR ASSETS TO STRENGTHEN OUR DEMOCRACY. CRUCIALLY, MOST OF THEM TOOK THE FOUR-YEAR PLEDGE, AND MORE THAN HALF OF OUR INITIAL 2020 ONE-YEAR PLEDGERS SIGNED A FOUR-YEAR PLEDGE IN 2021 HELPING MEANINGFULLY CONTRIBUTE TO OUR GOAL OF STOPPING THE BOOM-AND-BUST CYCLE OF DEMOCRACY.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:IN THE LAST YEAR, O4D TRANSITIONED FROM A START-UP ORGANIZING CAMPAIGN TO A LONG-TERM COMMUNITY OF DONORS COMMITTED TO STRENGTHENING OUR DEMOCRACY TOGETHER. WE HOSTED MORE THAN FIFTEEN MAJOR DONOR EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY BUILDING EVENTS, BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON, THAT REACHED HUNDREDS OF PARTICIPANTS.

DEMOCRACYFINALLY, OUR PLEDGERS COLLECTIVELY COMMITTED OVER $100 MILLION DOLLARS TO THE ORGANIZATIONS AND LEADERS THAT WERE UPHOLDING OUR DEMOCRACY IN 2021. IN SERVICE OF HELPING MOVING FUNDS TO THE MOST URGENT NEEDS OF DEMOCRACY ADVOCATES, O4D PROVIDED ROBUST ADVISING TO BRIDGE BETWEEN DONOR INTERESTS AND PRIORITIES AND MOVEMENT NEEDS AND HAPS. WE EXPANDED OUR DEMOCRACY INVESTMENT COMMITTEE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR GROWING COMMUNITY WITH ADDED EXPERTISE ON ELECTION PROTECTION, FIGHTING GERRYMANDERING, STRENGTHENING GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING, AND MORE.
