THE STANDARDBRED RETIREMENT FOUNDATION RESCUES HORSES FROM SHIPPING FOR SLAUGHTER, AND IN NEED OF HOMES. IT PROVIDES REHABILITATION SUCH AS MEDICAL; DENTAL; PROPER REFEEDING; VETERINARY ATTENTION; FARRIER, CARE, AND REST. THE OBJECTIVE IS HOMING TO CAREFULLY SCREENED ADOPTERS, HOWEVER, MANY HORSES REMAIN UNDER SRFS CARE AND EXPENSE FOR LIFE. ANNUALLY SRF HELPS 500 -800 NEW HORSES IN NEED AND FOLLOWS UP VIA VETERINARY REPORTS FROM ADOPTERS SEMI-ANNUALLY FOR LIFE. APPROXIMATELY 400-500 HOMES ARE SECURED ANNUALLY, AND AN AVERAGE OF 500 HORSES REMAIN UNDER SRF'S CARE AT ANY ONE TIME.
