VOLUNTEER-BASED, BINATIONAL AND COMMITTED TO SERVING THE COMMUNITY OF AQUA PRIETA, SONORA, MEXICO THROUGH ACCESS TO EDUCATION THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS, AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES TO KEEP COMMUNITIES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BORDER CONNECTED.

EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FUNDED BY DONATIONS, PROVIDING THE STUDENTS WITH SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING PRIVATE ENGLISH IMMERSION FROM PRE KINDERGARTEN THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL, PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL, LOCAL TECHNOLOGICAL CERTIFICATE DEGREES AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES THROUGHOUT MEXICO. STUDENTS ARE SELECTED BASED ON NEED, MERIT, AND SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENTS.
OUR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IS MULTIFUNCTIONAL. WE PROVIDE HOUSING FOR VISITING VOLUNTEER GROUPS AT A MINIMAL FEE. THESE GROUPS TAKE PART IN SERVICE PROJECTS, INCLUDING HOME CONSTRUCTION, FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS, ALONG WITH INTERACTIVE VISITS TO OUR DOG SHELTER, THE BORDER WALL, AND MIGRANT AND REHABILITATION CENTERS. GROUPS LEARN ABOUT SERVICE WORK AND THE LOCAL CULTURE; LOCALS UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE FRIENDS ACROSS THE LINE. WE CALL THIS OUR EXCHANGE PROGRAM. AN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS SERVICE AND UNDERSTANDING
VECINOS HOUSING IS A MULTIUSE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH 42 HOMES AND APPROXIMATELY 160 RESIDENTS. THIS NEIGHBORHOOD HAS AN ONSITE CHILDCARE FACILITY, AND EDUCATION CENTER, COMMUNITY GARDEN, PLAYGROUNDS AND SPORTS COURTS. VECINOS WAS DEVELOPED TO GIVE FAMILIES IN AGUA PRIETA, MEXICO AN AFFORDABLE PLACE TO LIVE. ALL RESIDENTS DO VOLUNTEER WORK AND HELP TO KEEP THE COMMUNITY CLEAN AND SAFE.
