THE ABIA JUDD PTA IS AN OVERARCHING SUPPORT ARM FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE ACTIVITIES THE SCHOOL PROVIDES ITS STUDENTS. GIVEN THE FINANCIAL STATUS OF THE SCHOOLS IN ARIZONA, THIS PTA (LIKE MOST) IS VITAL TO ANY "EXTRAS" THAT ARE DONE ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENTS (WITH THE GOAL OF CREATING A WELL-ROUNDED EXPERIENCE FOR THEM). AND, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE WHAT THIS PTA DOES, A GREAT DEAL OF FUNDRAISING GOES ON THROUGHOUT OUR SCHOOL YEAR. IF THE FUNDRAISING YIELDS ENOUGH PROFIT, THE PTA HAS TRADITIONALLY PROVIDED LARGER-SCALE PURCHASES AS NEEDED. COVID INTERRUPTED OUR MOMENTUM IN THE SPRING, HOWEVER THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE MANY IN SPITE OF IT ALL.PROGRAM SERVICE ACHIEVEMENTS SUPPORTING THE GOAL OF "ADVOCATING FOR CHILDREN":* ACHIEVED 200 CLUB STATUS WITH 206 PTA MEMBERS* PROVIDED EACH GRADE LEVEL WITH SCHOLASTIC NEWS PUBLICATIONS FOR THE CLASSROOM* FUNDED SOFTWARE COSTS FOR THE VARIOUS GRADE LEVELS UTILIZED IN THE CLASSROOM* PROVIDED REPLENISHMENT OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED* PROVIDED ALL CLASSROOMS WITH LYSOL WIPES MID-YEAR* REIMBURSED EACH TEACHER MEMBER UP TO A TOTAL OF $125 FOR SCHOOL EXPENSES THEY INCUR OUT-OF-POCKET ANNUALLY* PROVIDED MONTHLY TEACHER LUNCHEONS* FACILITATED AND UNDERWROTE THE MEET-THE-TEACHER ICE CREAM SOCIAL FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL* FACILITATED PICTURE DAY IN BOTH THE FALL AND SPRING* PROVIDED A "MOVIE NIGHT" FOR FAMILIES* PROVIDED HEROES LUNCHEON TO FIRST RESPONDERS ALLOWING STUDENTS TO LEARN AND INTERACT WITH THE HEROES* ATTENDED THE PUSD FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL SIP AND SAVOR FUNDRAISER EVENT AND DONATED $500 TO THE SUPPLY CLOSET THAT BENEFITS THE ENTIRE DISTRICT* COORDINATED PETER PIPER PIZZA NIGHT WHERE FAMILIES PLAY AND HAVE FUN WITH OTHER AJ FAMILIES WHILE RECEIVING SOME FUNDRAISING DOLLARS* FACILITATED GRADE BREAKFASTS FOR EACH OF THE GRADE LEVELS (KINDER WAS CANCELED DUE TO COVID) THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WHERE THE FAMILIES GATHER AND WHERE THE RESPECTIVE GRADE LEVEL PERFORMS FOR THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY FOLLOWING BREAKFAST* FACILITATED A WORLD'S FINEST CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER THAT GENERATED NET PROFIT OF ABOUT $9,700* FACILITATED A FALL BOOK FAIR TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE LIBRARY AS WELL AS TO REINFORCE THE JOY OF READING* PROVIDED CLASSROOM POPCORN PARTY TO THE CLASS WITH THE MOST PTA PARENT/ADULT MEMBERS* SUPPORTED RED RIBBON WEEK WITH SPIRIT DAYS EACH DAY TO REINFORCE THE MESSAGE OF STAYING CLEAR OF DRUGS* UNDERWROTE AND FACILITATED THE SCHOOL SPELLING BEE* COORDINATED THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE FOR LOCAL FOOD BANK(S)* FACILITATED HOLIDAY TREE SETUP AND TEAR DOWN* COORDINATED HOLIDAY COOKIES/STORY WITH THE PRINCIPAL* FACILITATED HOLIDAY SHOPPE FUNDRAISER--SETUP, OPERATION, ETC. ARE PROVIDED AND STAFFED BY PTA MEMBERS FOR THE FUN OF SHOPPING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AS WELL AS RAISING FUNDS FOR THE PTA* PROVIDED A TOTAL OF $1,000 FOR TWO SCHOLARSHIPS ($500 EACH) THAT BENEFITED TWO PRIOR ABIA JUDD/MILLER VALLEY STUDENTS* FACILITATED CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER PROVIDING FAMILY GATHERING TIME AND FUNDRAISING* SPONSORED THE PENNY CHALLENGE WHERE THE RESPECTIVE GRADES COMPETE TO WIN OVERALL FOR THE MOST COINS DONATED. THE MAJORITY OF THE PROCEEDS WERE DONATED TO STEPPING STONES* PROVIDED TEACHERS WITH AN END-OF-YEAR LUNCH WHEREIN THEY COULD GO TO THE OUTSIDE VENDOR AND PURCHASE THEIR LUNCHES SAFELY/DIRECTLY* COORDINATED THE ANNUAL YEARBOOK SALES AND DISTRIBUTION SCHOOL-WIDE* COLLECTED AND SUBMITTED BOX TOPS WHICH IS FACILITATED BY A SUB-COMMITTEE OF THE PTA AS ANOTHER FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE* ASSISTED WITH THE DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL MATERIALS LEFT BEHIND DUE TO THE COVID CLOSURE AS WELL AS DISTRIBUTION OF YEARBOOKS
