IN 2021, COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES (CLS) PROVIDED CIVIL LEGAL SERVICES TO 7,737 CLIENTS, DIRECTLY IMPACTING 17,881 FAMILY/HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS. IF THESE CIVIL ISSUES WERE LEFT UNRESOLVED, PROBLEMS RESULTING IN HOMELESSNESS, CONTINUED ABUSE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, LOSS OF LIMITED INCOME DUE TO CONSUMER FRAUD AND ILLEGAL EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES, LACK OF HEALTH CARE AND THE RIGHT TO PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES WOULD HAVE ESCALATED. CLS ALSO PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO APPROXIMATELY 25,000 PERSONS THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION.CLS' VOLUNTEER LAWYERS PROGRAM (VLP) PROVIDED CIVIL LEGAL ADVICE, BRIEF SERVICE, ASSISTANCE WITH SELF-ADVOCACY OR REPRESENTATION THROUGH PRIVATE ATTORNEYS WHO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND SERVICES. (CONT'D SCH O) CLS HAS ACCESS TO APPROXIMATELY 3,300 PRIVATE ATTORNEYS THROUGH OUR PRIVATE ATTORNEY INVOLVEMENT PROGRAM.
