THIS IS THE SECOND YEAR OF ACTIVITY FOR THE FOUNDATION. CURRENTLY ALL PLANNING AND ACTIVITIES ARE PRIMARILY RELATED TO FUND GATHERING, THE FIRST STEP IN OUR IMMEDIATE GOAL OF RAISING MONIES TO CONTRIBUTE TO MEMBERS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY. THE FOUNDATION IS CONTINUING THE FOLLOWING: 1. SOLICIT FUNDS THROUGH MAIL SOLICITATIONS, EMAIL SOLICITATIONS, PHONE SOLICITATIONS, IN PERSON SOLICITATIONS, WEBSITE DONATION, MEDIA CAMPAIGNS. 2.BUILDING A WEBSITE: THE WEBSITE WILL SEEK TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOUNDATION AND ITS PROGRAMS AND REQUEST DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC. 3.PURSUING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ENTITIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE STATEN ISLAND AND MARITIME COMMUNITIES TO SHARE THE MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION AND LOOK FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO CONTRIBUTE. 4.LOOKING INTO PLANNING FUNDRAISING EVENTS IN THE FUTURE INCLUDING GALAS, AUCTIONS, GOLF OUTINGS, AND OTHER EVENTS. THE FOUNDATION WILL SOLICIT CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ITS MEMBERS, AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY, PRIMARILY IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY. IT WILL ALSO REQUEST ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE UNY AND UNJ SANDY HOOK PILOTS ASSOCIATIONS. THE FOUNDATION IS PROVIDING SUPPORT TO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY TO ASSIST THEM IN THEIR TIME OF NEED. FAMILY ASSISTANCE: THE FOUNDATION WILL ASSIST FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING DONATIONS TO WIDOWS AND ORPHANS WHO NEED FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR HOUSING, FOOD AND EDUCATION EXPENSES; THEY WILL PROVIDE DONATIONS OF FOOD DURING THE HOLIDAYS TO FAMILIES (I.E. A TURKEY DRIVE FOR THANKSGIVING); THEY PROVIDE TOY DONATIONS DURING THE WINTER HOLIDAYS. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE: THE FOUNDATION WILL ASSIST MARINERS OR MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE FALLEN ILL OR HAVE BEEN INJURED AND ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE IN PAYING MEDICAL BILLS. SUPPORT FOR CHILDREN IN NEED: THE FOUNDATION WILL PROVIDE SUPPORT TO CHILDREN BY DONATING MONIES FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND COMPUTER EQUIPMENT, ACTIVITY SPONSORSHIP AND OTHER SOCIAL NEEDS. ORGANIZATION SUPPORT: THE FOUNDATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY THAT ASSIST INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED.
