Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
SAVE THE LIVES OF BLACK BIRTHING PEOPLE AND THEIR INFANTS AND IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES BY INCREASING ACCESS TO CRITICAL SERVICES AND SUPPORT. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, PAID PARENTAL LEAVE, DOULA SERVICE COVERAGE, TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, THERAPY COST COVERAGE, AND BABY ESSENTIAL ITEMS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
WE PROVIDED SUPPLEMENTAL INCOME TO BIRTHERS WHO RECENTLY EXPERIENCED A BIRTH EVENT IN ORDER TO GIVE THEM THE TIME THEY NEEDED TO HEAL AND BOND WITH THEIR BABIES AND STILL BE ABLE TO PAY THEIR BILLS AND PROVIDE FOOD FOR THEIR FAMILIES. THE SUPPLEMENTAL INCOME IS PROVIDED TO BIRTHERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THIS BENEFIT FROM THEIR EMPLOYER AND WOULD OTHERWISE GO UNPAID DURING POST-PARTUM HEALING.
WE COVER THE COST OF SERVICES THAT IMPROVE BIRTH AND HEALING OUTCOMES SUCH AS BIRTH DOULA SUPPORT, BREASTFEEDING CLASSES, BIRTHING CLASSES, AND NEW BABY CLASSES. WE PARTNER WITH CULTURALLY CONGRUENT ORGANIZATIONS THAT WORK DIRECTLY FOR AND ARE A PART OF, THE COMMUNITY WE ARE SERVING.
WE PROVIDE FUNDS FOR MOTHERS TO PURCHASE ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR THE SAFETY OF NEW BABIES SUCH AS CAR SEATS, CRIBS, AND STROLLERS. WE ALSO PROVIDE GRANTS TO COVER THE COST OF TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM PRENATAL AND POSTNATAL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS.
