HEAD START, FUNDED BY HHS, PROVIDED A PRESCHOOL EXPERIENCE FOR OVER 400 CHILDREN OF LOW-INCOME FAMILIES IN CLAYTON AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES.
COMMUNITY SERVICES BLOCK GRANT, LOW INCOME HEATING AND ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAMS PROVIDED EMERGENCY AND ENERGY ASSISTANCE TO SEVERAL HUNDRED FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS.
LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDED ENERGY ASSISTANCE TO THOSE WITH LOW INCOMES AND UNABLE TO PAY FOR THEIR HEATING NEEDS. HUNDREDS WERE ASSISTED.
CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM PROVIDED MEALS FOR CHILDREN WITHIN THE HEAD START AND DAY CARE PROGRAMS. VARIOUS OTHER PROGRAMS ARE PROVIDED TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS WITHIN THE CLAYTON, FAYETTE, AND HENRY COUNTIES.
