MORGAN'S MESSAGE EDUCATION PROGRAM. THIS IS OUR LEAD PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM IS BUILT AROUND STUDENT-ATHLETES ON HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN THE US, CANADA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM. AMBASSADORS APPLY FOR CAMPUS LEADERSHIP ROLES AND CONDUCT VARIOUS MONTHLY ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVE THE FOLLOWING:- CREATING SAFE SPACE FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES TO GATHER (VIRTUALLY OR IN PERSON) TO DISCUSS MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES AMONG THEIR PEERS (ADVOCATES)- CONDUCTING MONTHLY DISCUSSION GROUPS WITH ADVOCATES THAT EXPLORE VARIOUS TOPICS DEALING WITH DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, FOOD DISORDERS AMONG OTHER TOPICS- INITIATING COMMUNITY EVENTS THAT SHED LIGHT ON THE EXTENT OF MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES EXPERIENCED BY STUDENT-ATHLETES, WHICH HELP TO ELIMINATE THE STIGMA, NORMALIZE CONVERSATIONS AND, ULTIMATELY, EQUALIZE THE TREATMENT OF MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH CONDITIONS.
THE MENTAL MATCHUP PODCAST. THIS IS THE NAME OF THE MORGAN'S MESSAGE WEEKLY PODCAST SERIES EXPLORING THE MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES EXPERIENCED BY CURRENT AND FORMER HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGIATE STUDENT-ATHLETES. EACH PODCAST RUNS APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AND IS HOSTED BY ONE FORMER D1 LAX COLLEGE ATHLETE. EPISODES DROP EVERY TUESDAY MORNING.
GUIDE AND FACILITATE DEDICATION GAMES AT SPORTING EVENTS. THESE ARE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS EVENTS. MORGAN'S MESSAGE PARTNERS WITH HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE ATHLETIC TEAMS TO SPONSOR OPENING CEREMONIES AND HALF-TIME RECOGNITION EVENTS ON THE FIELD AT COMPETITIONS TO RECOGNIZE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS EFFORTS, IN GENERAL, AND MORGAN D. RODGERS, OUR NAMESAKE, SPECIFICALLY. HIGHLIGHTING STUDENT-ATHLETE MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IN THESE HIGHLY-VISIBLE SETTINGS HELPS TO NORMALIZE THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN STUDENT-ATHLETES, THEIR PARENTS, THEIR COACHES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
THE MO MADNESS ANNUAL YOUTH LACROSSE TOURNAMENT. THIS TOURNAMENT INCLUDES GIRLS AGE 5-8 GRADE FROM THE SURROUNDING AREA. APPROXIMATELY 750 PLAYES, ALONG WITH COACHES, FAMILIES AND SPECTATORS ATTEND THIS 2-DAY EVENT. MORGAN'S MESSAGE USES THIS WEEKEND TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCT OF MENTAL HEALTH AMONG STUDENT-ATHLETES BY PLACING MENTAL HEALTH SIGNAGE AROUND ALL THE FIELDS, SELLING TOURNAMENT T-SHIRTS, OTHER MM MERCHANDISE AND PRIZES TO THE 1ST AND 2ND PLACE TEAMS IN EACH OF THE GRADES.
