2022 WAS ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR OF THE PROGRAM. THE BOYS FLOURISHED IN THEIR FIRST JOBS THANKS TO STRONG MENTORSHIP FROM THEIR EMPLOYERS AND DCSH SUPERVISORS. IN ADDITION TO GREAT SUMMER WORK, THE BOYS TOOK SWIMMING LESSONS AT THE YMCA, HAD A GOLF LESSON, PARTICIPATED IN A LEADERSHIP SEMINAR, COMPLETED A FINANCIAL LITERACY COURSE, CREATED ART PROJECTS, ATTENDED THEIR FIRST THEATER PRODUCTION AND OF COURSE ENJOYED HIKING, BIKING, SWIMMING AND EVENING FIRES. THE BOYS PERFORMED HOUSEHOLD CHORES AND PITCHED IN PREPARING DINNERS. WE HAD A GROUP OF EIGHT BOYS WHO CAME FROM PARTICULARLY CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES. ONE BOY WAS HOMELESS AND LIVED WITH HIS MOTHER AND FIVE YOUNGER SIBLINGS IN A MOTEL ROOM. ANOTHER BOY WAS ON JUVENILE PAROLE FOR A GUN VIOLATION. AND ANOTHER NEVER MET HIS FATHER AND HIS MOTHER DIED OF A DRUG OVERDOSE WHEN HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD. THE BOYS HAD FOUNDATIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE, ENJOYED THE NATURAL WONDERS OF DOOR COUNTY AND FELT A PROFOUND SENSE OF SUPPORT AND LOVE FROM THE EMPLOYERS, SUPERVISORS AND DOOR COUNTY COMMUNITY. IT WAS LIFE CHANGING FOR THEM.
