91 PLACE IS A LOW BARRIER TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FOR YOUTH. RESIDENTS ARE ADOLESCENTS TRANSITIONING TO ADULTHOOD, AGES 17-22, AND ARE ABLE TO STAY FOR TWO YEARS. THIS GIVES THEM TIME-BOUND SPACE TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION, OBTAIN A JOB, SAVE MONEY AND CREATE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. RESIDENTS PARTICIPATE IN LIFE SKILLS CURRICULUM, A MENTORSHIP PROGRAM AND EVIDENCE BASED THERAPY TO LEARN SKILLS THEY NEED TO BE INDEPENDENT ADULTS. THE ORGANIZATION OPENED ITS FIRST HOME IN 2019 AND OPENED ITS SECOND HOUSE IN NOVEMBER 2022 DOUBLING ITS CAPACITY FOR RESIDENTS.
91 PLACE EMPLOYS TRAUMA-INFORMED AND TRAUMA RESPONSIVE CARE FOR OUR YOUTH. FROM ITS BEGINNING 91 PLACE HAS PROVIDED ITS RESIDENTS ACCESS TO THIS TYPE OF CARE IN 2022, 91 PLACE RECEIVED FUNDING TO OPEN A THERAPY CENTER NAMED THE HAVEN THAT EXPANDS ITS REACH BEYOND RESIDENTS TO FORMER RESIDENTS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AT NO COST (SUBSIDIZED OR THROUGH INSURANCE).
ONE OF 91 PLACES KEY OBJECTIVES HAS TO BE ENSURE YOUTH HAVE ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES. IN 2022, 91 PLACE RECEIVED FUNDING TO EXPAND ITS EFFORTS BY CREATING A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. THE INTENTION FOR THIS PROGRAM IS TO BE AN INNOVATIVE, SELF SUSTAINING MODEL FOR YOUTH TO RECEIVE ON THE JOB SKILLS TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS AND AID IN LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. 91 PLACE USED FUNDING IN 2022 TO HIRE A DIRECTOR FOR THE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND TO LOCATE AND SECURE A COFFEE SHOP LOCATION. THE LOCATION WAS OPERATIONAL IN APRIL 2023.
