SOPHIE'S NEIGHBORHOOD IS CONTINUING TO ACHIEVE ITS SOLE PURPOSE OF FUNDING SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH TO SUPPORT AND BENEFIT RARE DISEASE PATIENTS WITH MULTICENTRIC CARPOTARSAL OSTEOLYSIS (MCTO). THIS YEAR, GRANTS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO SUPPORT STUDIES IN MOUSE MODELS IN LABS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF TSUKUBA AND HARVARD UNIVERSITY, WITH ADDITIONAL STUDIES OF PATIENT BIOSPECIMENS AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY. ALL EFFORTS OF THE ORGANIZATION'S DIRECT FUNDING TO ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS, COMPANIES, AND ENTITIES WITH RELEVANT EXPERTISE IS APPLIED TO ACHIEVING OUR MISSION OF SUPPORTING THE FINDING OF EFFECTIVE TREATMENTS FOR THIS ULTRA-RARE CONDITION. FUNDRAISING EFFORTS HAVE INCLUDED SPECIAL CULINARY EXPERIENCES, AND COLLABORATIONS ON SALES OF SPECIFIC PRODUCTS, FOOD FESTIVALS, AND OTHER ITEMS.
