OPEN DATA STEWARDSHIP FOR GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS - IN 2022, THE OPEN APPAREL REGISTRY EXPANDED TO BECOME OPEN SUPPLY HUB (OS HUB) - A TRANSITION FROM MAPPING ONLY APPAREL SUPPLY CHAINS, TO MAPPING ALL PRODUCT SUPPLY CHAINS GLOBALLY. IN NOVEMBER 2022, OS HUB LAUNCHED WITH OVER 135,000 FACILITIES IN THE TOOL, CONTRIBUTED BY NEARLY 600 USERS INCLUDING MAJOR MULTI-CATEGORY RETAILERS, MULTISTAKEHOLDER INITIATIVES, CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS AND CERTIFICATION SCHEMES, AND SCORES OF PUBLICLY AVAILABLE DATASETS ACCESSED BY THE OS HUB TEAM. BY THE END OF 2022 THIS NUMBER HAD GROWN TO OVER 150,000. THIS DATA HAS BEEN USED BY ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS WORKER RIGHTS CONSORTIUM AS A KEY STEP IN THE PROCESS FOLLOWING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC TO ENSURE DISMISSED WORKERS RECEIVED THEIR LEGALLY-OWED SEVERANCE; CERTIFICATION SCHEMES LIKE FAIRTRADE CERTIFIED, TO HELP MATCH BRANDS TO FAIR TRADE CERTIFIED FACTORIES; RESEARCHERS AT WWF TO MAP OUT WATER RISKS IN GLOBAL APPAREL SUPPLY CHAIN HOTSPOTS BY 2030; AND JOURNALISTS TO INVESTIGATE SOURCING FROM XINJIANG, CHINA. IN ADDITION, OS HUB HIRED ITS FIRST COMMUNITY MANAGERS IN PRODUCTION COUNTRIES SUCH AS TURKEY AND BANGLADESH, TO BRING THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE GLOBAL SOUTH TO THE ORGANIZATION'S WORK, AND TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN FACILITIES, CIVIL SOCIETY AND OS HUB.
