ART AND HISTORY YOUTH PROGRAMMING. PROGRAMMING THAT PROVIDES A CREATIVE AFTER SCHOOL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT TO WORK ALONGSIDE YOUNG PEOPLE TO EXPLORE BIPOC HISTORY, DEVELOP NEW SKILLS, AND BUILD CONFIDENCE IN THEMSLEVES THROUGH THE USE OF ART. PARTICIPANTS DELVE INTO THE HISTIOGRAPHIES OF HOW BLACK AND BROWN NARRATIVES HAVE BEEN SHAPED AND HOW THEY ARE RECORDED AND REMEMBERED IN THE U.S. THE YOUTH ARE EQUIPPED WITH VARIOUS MEDIUMS AND STORYTELLING TOOLS TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN NARRATIVES ABOUT THEMSELVES, THEIR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION, YOUTH ARE EQUIPPED WITH THE TOOLS TO CREATE AND CONTRIBUTE TO A COMMUNITY ARCHIVE. YOUTH DEVELOP CRITICAL CONVERSATION AROUND ARCHIVES AND THE ARCHIVING PROCESS AND DEVELOP AN ACCESSIBLE CATALOGUE FOR THE LARGER COMMUNITY.


COMMUNITY CONVERSATIONS AND ART WORKSHOPS. THESE EVENTS ARE OPEN TO ALL IN THE COMMUNITY AND ARE MEANT TO FOSTER CROSS-CULTURAL AND CROSS- GENERATIONAL DIALOGUE AND CONNECTIONS. THROUGH THESE EVENTS WE IMPACT 800-1000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS.
