SEE SCHEDULE OTHE ORGANIZATION IMPLEMENTED, AS A NETWORK LEAD, THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA'S HEALTHY OPPORTUNITIES PILOT PROGRAM FOR MEDICAID. FUNCTIONING AS THE NETWORK LEAD FOR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA'S HEALTHY OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM, IMPACT HEALTH:1. SERVES AS A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (NCDHHS), PRIVATE HEALTH PLANS, AND HUMAN SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS (HSO'S) PARTICIPATING IN THE PILOT.2. OVERSEES THE WNC HSO NETWORK.3. SUPPORTS CAPACITY BUILDING, TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND CONVENINGS FOR HSO'S.4. REVIEWS HSO INVOICES AND FORWARDS THEM TO THE CORRECT PRIVATE HEALTH PLAN.5. COLLECTS AND REPORTS DATA TO INFORM EVALUATION EFFORTS.CURRENTLY, 90 PERCENT OF HEALTH CARE SPENDING IN THE UNITED STATES IS ON MEDICAL CARE. WHILE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY MEDICAL SERVICES IS CRUCIAL TO HEALTH, RESEARCH SHOWS THAT UP TO 80 PERCENT OF A PERSON'S OVERALL HEALTH IS DRIVEN BY OTHER SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND THE BEHAVIOR INFLUENCED BY THEM KNOWN AS "SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH." IMPACT HEALTH THROUGH ITS PROGRAMS IS LOOKING TO IMPROVE THOSE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH BY INVESTING IN HOUSING, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION AND INTERPERSONAL SAFETY AND ULTIMATELY REDUCE THE NEED FOR MEDICAL CARE.
