EDUCATION: AKEDA REACHED MORE THAN 2,445 ALASKANS THROUGH ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN 2022 TO IMPROVE RECOGNITION OF AND RESPONSE TO EATING DISORDERS. AKEDA OFFERED CONFERENCES AND TRAININGS FOR MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR CAREGIVERS, COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS, AND PROGRAMS FOR K-12 AND UNIVERSITY TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND COACHES.
SUPPORT: AKEDA OFFERS REGULAR SUPPORT GROUPS TO PROMOTE RECOVERY AND OFFER SUPPORT FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS SUPPORTING LOVED ONES WITH EATING DISORDERS. IN 2022, 84 PEOPLE ATTENDED MONTHLY FAMILY AND FRIENDS SUPPORT GROUPS AND 250 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED THROUGH THE WEEKLY ADULT SUPPORT GROUP.
ADVOCACY: AKEDA WORKS ON ADVOCACY INITIATIVES IN OUR STATE AND NATIONALLY TO PROMOTE EQUITY IN ACCESS TO EATING DISORDER TREATMENT, FUNDING FOR EATING DISORDERS RESEARCH, AND INITIATIVES AIMED AT DECREASING RISK FOR DEVELOPMENT OF EATING DISORDERS.
